The inspiring women’s entrepreneurial organization, Ladies Who Launch, held a talk tonight by Mariel Hemingway at the groovy Bergamot Station (historic former trolley station and now art gallery complex) in Santa Monica. The granddaughter of the famous author, who is a yoga devotee, signed her book
Healthy Living from the Inside Out, spoke about her long-time quest for a healthier lifestyle physically and spiritually, shared personal and frank stories (hey! it was held at a studio called Frank too), and led the audience in a guided meditation.
One of the nice things about the events like those LWL present is seeing colleagues and friends. Carrie Sommer of the splendid Sommer Designs came up from the South Bay, as well as Stephanie Lesky from the eclectic Junk in Our Trunk indie designer shopping site. We also ran into another Stephanie we used to see at the Israeli Business Network, Stephanie Elhayani, who recently launched Seed, a floral arrangement business.
Check out Mariel’s book:

And check out Mariel with Stephanie L., who was about to get her book signed. Mariel was gracious, grounded and personable — she sat and chat individually with each person whose book she signed. Very menschy

We decided we needed a fireworks version of our “pyrotechnician” t-shirt design featured in the previous post. So here it is — “everyone loves fireworks” in that same mid-century graphic-y style! (Below, kids navy tee, also available in black, royal blue, and white. Available for adults too.)

Not your usual Fourth of July gear, our fireworks and pyrotechnics t-shirt designs lend pizazz all year around. From bold to humorously understated, you will stand out amongst all those flags and eagles
Our very newest is the glowing dragon illuminated by colorful bursts, and flanked by the kanji for fireworks: “hanabi” (literally, flower-fire.)Â We’re showing them as designs, but they are available on t-shirts in a variety of colors and styles!

Maybe you remember our posting about the LittlePeia earring contest back in April … yeah? remember? no? Then allow us to remind you.
There was a contest for a pair of cute swingy earring with crystals and glass beads.
We entered the contest.
We won.
“Oh, no, you didn’t.” “Oh, yes, we did.”
And swingy and lovely and classy they are! Handmade, with long, looped silver chain through donut-shaped blue and clear glass beads, and topped with white Swarovski crystals. Woohoo! Thank you, Stacey!
But LittlePeia has more than earrings. There are necklaces, bracelets, very cool crystal car accents, and custom-made bridal jewelry, all showing a great variety of styles. Little Peia’s Spring 2007 line features copper and Asian-inspired cloisonne that work for all occasions.
Below: Winning handmade glass bead earrings and cloisonne necklace.
