New Haiku Design for Spring
A frog, a butterfly and beautiful kanji to celebrate spring…
Last year we celebrated summer with a summer haiku design (see our model at right.)Â Featuring
wispy dragonflies (usually a summer motif in Japanese literature) and calligraphy-style writing in Japanese, the design quotes haiku poet Issa:
The dragonfly! … Distant mountains reflected in his eyes.
Since haiku is so essenially seasonal, we will be issuing a new haiku design for each season. To celebrate the coming of spring, we are delighted to introduce our newest. It quotes what is perhaps the most widely known haiku by celebrated Japanese haiku master Basho:
An old pond … A frog jumps in! Splash!
And indeed, our frog is waiting for the right moment. Perhaps a second later he goes after the butterfly and then — plop!
Our lovely new design is available on fashion t-shirts, art tiles, mugs, baby togs, and makes a gorgeous pillow set!
Of course you can see more Asian t-shirts and Asian inspired gifts at Rotem Gear.
