Out of Honolulu, Hawai’i comes Mixed Plate Blog. Blogger Liana aims to “to share some of the craziness that pops into my head and to present the work of talented artists and designers that I think you should know about.”
We’re just thrilled that she felt that Rotem Gear was something readers should know know about. Liana gave us a fabulous review as a shop where folks can find “culture, pop and humor.”
Liana herself has a shop for handmade gifts called On a Friday where shoppers can find one-of-a-kind jewelry, cards and frames. We’re partial to the lightning bolt necklace (silver with topaz) and the earrings made with cream and peacock Biwa pearls (I had never heard of peacock pearls but they are beautiful, multi-hued pearls. Some of Liana’s other earrings flash pearls with even more colors.)

I should also mention that Liana is a big boba fan and her love of Fridays (hence the name of her shop) is in part due to a boba drinking ritual she has each week

Apple.
This the time of year for apples. When I still lived in New York (the proverbial Big Apple) this was when we’d want to go to the orchards to buy apples by the bushel (at least one kind for cooking and baking and another kind for eating) and fresh apple cider by the gallon. A is for Autumn. Apples are inseparable from autumn.
With our eyes on apples, we felt we had to share this Hello Kitty apple telelvision that the folks at Sanrio have just come up with! A is also for adorable. And for Akihabara. (Props to the Raw Feed and Akihabara News.)

And A is for Art. And Admiration. These are 2 of the many color-infused paintings by artist MaryO that I’ve long admired. These have a lovely, rich, autumny feel. MaryO now has a gallery on ImageKind where anyone can now purchase her A-is-for-Amazing works. Check them out!

The apples and wine in the paintings make me think of the upcoming Jewish New Year, when apples are used literally and symbolically to wish one another a sweet new year, usually with honey. Our own apple cards continue to be popular.

But, alas, honey requires bees and that brings us from A to B.
The blog was made on an Apple.

We had the pleasure of nice little interview with Miss Evil Kitty. You can read it here.
Miss Evil Kitty is herself a craftster and sells her balms and accessories on her shop site. We loved these earrings! (The green ones were featured in MEK’s recent interview in the Modesto Bee.)
