Nautical Not for Naught

June 28th, 2006

In case you’ve missed the memo, nautical is big this season. Dannielle Romano, editor at DailyCandy, hosted a great segment on the Today Show about what is and is not nautical:

The nautical look is different from beachy. Beachy is Miami and suntan lotion, bikinis, sarongs, tanks and towels. Nautical takes its cues from swarthy sailors, like Gatsby goes yachting and glamorous, fabled seaside towns like Portofino.

Bistro Top by TwoSpaceBut the most exciting thing for us about the show was the feature of this awesome boat-neck top by our friends at TwoSpace Studio. Congrats, Christine! Click on the photo to see it at TwoSpace Studio, grab yourself one (available in different colors, as well as solids) and to see what other styles they have dreamed up for the taking.

See the Today Show article and the video segment here.

Rotem Gear has also getting on board the SS Nautical Craze with our new, fresh-as-a-sea-breeze ship wheel and seahorse designs. The tote is perfect for summer, and our ceramic coasters are just the thing for drinks on the beach patio (or pretending you have one.) It’s especially jazzy on a red cap-sleeve top, paired with a pair of high-waisted white trousers!

Even the littles shipmates can join the crew with our mix and match bib and top or onesie.

Of course, we’re biased but we think they’re more fun than a bottle of rum.

Inflatable Office in a Bucket

June 24th, 2006

Some time ago I was made aware of the Inflatable Pub. These good folks also make an inflatable church, presumably for the morning after when you’ve drunk too much stout and partied with the inflatable hostesses.

So now that our weekends are taken care of, it’s on the work week and “Inflatable Office in a Bucket” from the folks at Inflate.

This is actually uber-cool design, puported to assemble in minutes, and then disassembled easily into a portable bucket. The company also has some very innovative designs for POV display, temporary information booths and other neat structures for special events, shows, conventions, etc …

Project Nightlight Event Helps Abused Kids

June 16th, 2006

Rotem Gear is pleased to be participating in Project Nightlight’s Extreme Giving ‘06 fundraising event on June 25 at Bergamot Station’s Frank.Studio from 4-8 pm. Project Nightlight is a non-profit organization that uses MTV styled short films, high energy music, hip fashion and extreme sports to empower teens to overcome abuse.

Skateboard Legend Ray Flores of Dogtown will be rocking out on the Project Nightlight skate ramps along with the All Girl Skate Jam of the Vans Warped Tour.

A silent auction will feature several original autographed skateboards donated by Flores & The Dogtown crew. Various tv and film production houses (Sony Studios, Blur Studios & The Village Recorder) will be auctioning off those experiences that can only be accessed if “you know someone”, such as set visits, motion capture sessions and red-carpet premiere admission. Many other businesses are donating everything from laser treatments to snowboarding trips.

A fashion boutique will offer up the latest and greatest for the t-shirt wearing elite of Los Angeles. Rotem Gear will be joining such labels as Loomstate, 2bFree, Peoples Liberation and Brick Lane.

Tickets to the event are $25 in advance or $35 at the door and are are tax-deductable. VIP tickets are $250. VIPs have a special tent to relax in while sipping champagne and receive a gift bag valued at $1,500). To purchase tickets, go here.

For more about Project Nightlife, visit their site, and then see what Fox News reported about them.

Fabulous Fourth of July Tops

June 8th, 2006

Sure, the usual waving flags and fireworks have their place and are fun too, but what if you want to stand out in the crowd this July 4th? Our uber-cool “bang. boom.” is a sly understatement and “Plays with Fire” is just the thing for that pyromaniac in your life.

Father’s Day T-Shirts

June 7th, 2006

Our “legendary” design originally came about with a customer’s special request. She said her husband was a legend.

We refrained from asking for details ::delicate cough::

However, it seems a shame not to share this medieval-ish, swashbuckling, 3-D-embellished label of labels with all the other Legends out there. Even better, while it’s a great Father’s Day gift, it’s also perfect for all year ’round on the golf course, the b-ball court, the grill, wherever your Legend has established his legendary status …Click to see more shirt styles and colors!
